CASE STUDIES

Statue Cruises – Tourism & Transportation

Owned and operated by Hornblower Cruises & Events, Statue Cruises is the official and only authorized ferry provider to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. No client better represents NLC’s double-barreled public relations and government affairs approach than Statue Cruises, which started service in 2008 and has been the agency’s client since 2007. We work closely with Statue Cruises as it navigates the City, State and Federal government, and promote its service that has provided memorable experiences to millions of visitors around the globe. Through various crises including superstorms and government shutdowns, NLC has been with Statue Cruises every step of the way.

Belmont Business Improvement District – NYC Neighborhoods

Often referred to as the Bronx Little Italy where the historic Arthur Avenue is located, the Belmont Business Improvement District (BID) works to advance the economic well-being of local community and businesses in the neighborhood, many of which are often owned and operated by the same families that founded them nearly a century ago. With COVID-19 devastating NYC and the hospitality industry, the Bronx Little Italy was no exception. At the start of the pandemic, NLC worked quickly and closely with the BID to navigate crisis communications and launch one of the first plans to move dining outside and onto the street – via the “Piazza di Belmont,” a plan that took hold around New York City to help to support local restaurant businesses.

Rolex Central Park Horse Show – Sports & Annual Events

Since its inception in 2014, NLC has been the agency of record for Rolex Central Park Horse Show (RCPHS), an international and Olympian-level equestrian event that takes place in NYC’s iconic Wollman Rink. Georgina Bloomberg, Jessica Springsteen, Jennifer Gates and Olympian riders from all over the globe compete in this annual show. NLC works to identify new story angles each year from promoting Frederick The Great, “The World’s Most Handsome Horse,” who was part of the programming, pitch profiles on the RCPHS Founder and award-winning riders, and more.

William Greenberg Desserts – Local Businesses

We’ve all heard of the black and white cookie. NLC was tasked to promote this local Upper East Side confectionary institution, William Greenberg Desserts, home of the original black and white cookie. Initially hired for short campaign, NLC was retained for years because of its smart story angles, from a bake sale for breast cancer to seasonally themed cookies for Mother’s Day and other holidays to, most successfully, a green black and white cookie for the AFC championship-contender New York Jets. Due to the success of all the positive press coverage and buzz, William Greenberg Desserts requested to slow down the media attention since, for a time, they couldn’t keep up with consumer orders!

SouthCoast USA – Destination Marketing

Representing a coalition of 11 Convention & Visitors Bureaus throughout Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Florida, NLC worked with SouthCoast USA to spearhead crisis communications following the devastating events of Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, and the BP oil spill, to promote safe tourism to a national and international market. NLC created a strategic PR campaign to bring all affected states and coastal destinations together, hosting a major recovery concert with Jimmy Buffet that was televised live and a “Supper on the Sand” dining event with celebrity chef Guy Fieri, where politicians, community leaders, scientists, business owners and the press enjoyed dinner altogether on the beach with locally sourced, safe seafood. The successful PR campaign shined a light on the destination’s renowned tourism assets and recovery process with national coverage from MSNBC’s Morning Joe to CBS This Morning, which helped to bring back visitors to the region once more.
